ENON, Ohio — Speedway has launched First Responder Speedy Rewards as a thank-you to local first responders.
Special features of the program include a unique first-responder card design, five-cents-off each gallon of fuel, and five free beverages–coffee or fountain drinks. In states where fuel discounting is not possible, first responders will receive 10 free beverages.
“We at Speedway want to thank all first responders for their service, courage, and strength in the face of this pandemic and their daily jobs,” said Speedway President Tim Griffith. “Thank you for the time you spend taking care of others and making health and safety your top priority. We know a lot is asked of you every day and want to take the opportunity to recognize your unwavering commitment to those in your communities.”
First Responder cards are available on a first-come, first-served basis at all Speedway convenience stores to those in uniform with proper identification. The card can also be linked to an existing Speedy Rewards account.
The First Responders Speedy Rewards card is one of several initiatives Speedway has taken in response to the pandemic. On top of an enhanced cleaning and safety program, Speedway recently launched the Speedy Safe Zone, featuring complimentary disposable gloves, hand sanitizer and, for a nominal price, disposable face masks. In June, registered Speedy Rewards members also received the Speedy Stimulus, receiving 1,200 bonus points, enough for a free any-size hot or cold beverage.
“We recognize that our customers have faced a lot of challenges this year. Speedway is committed to providing safe, comfortable and friendly shopping, while continuing to deliver an exceptional experience to our loyal customers,” said Griffith.
Marathon Petroleum is an integrated, downstream energy company based in Findlay, Ohio. Its Speedway subsidiary, based in Enon, Ohio, is the third-largest c-store chain in the United States with 3,900 c-stores. In a deal expected to close in first-quarter 2021, Irving, Texas-based 7-Eleven Inc. has agreed to acquire Speedway.
