More and more employers are relaxing policies on employees working with visible tattoo’s.
Employers like Starbucks use to require staff to cover their visible tattoo’s with bandaids or clothing and have now relaxed these rules to allow for appropriate tattoo’s. One retailer has implemented a policy that says tattoo’s are okay as long as your mother would approve.
More and more millennials have tattoos – estimates are as much as 40%. Given the increase of tattoos and their associated numerous tv-reality shows – it is clear that the youth of today (many of the front-line works) are expressing themselves using body ink. Relaxing policies might also be influenced by rising talent in management ranks that have tattoos.
