The Bank of Canada introduced the new $20 polymer bank note on November 7th.
While there have been a few small issues with some bill acceptors not accepting the new $20 bill, overall the launch has been very successful. Many of the bank notes are undergoing major redesigns including the use of polymer instead of paper to incorporate some of the latest anti-forgery methods. The $100, $50, and now the $20 bill have been redesigned. New $10 and $5 dollar notes are expected by the end of 2013. The front side of the $20 bill features Queen Elizabeth II and the back side features the Canadian National Vimy Memorial. This statue located in France represents bravery and sacrifice of Canadian soldiers in the First world war.
