Kids Have More Smartphones

eMarketer estimates that 88% of 12- to 17-year-olds will have mobile phones this year, 84.0% of which will be smartphones.

As critical mass has been reached for this important age segment for convenience retailers, more convenience-like app integration will be required to win the loyalty of these fickle consumers.  The basic app feature find my store will be replaced with gaming-like experiences where teenagers are drawn to stores to participate.  A whole new world of apps to drive traffic are just around the corner for convenience stores.
